Inpatient Family Medicine

Our residents receive comprehensive education in adult medicine in the inpatient setting during their three years of residency. Under direct supervision of faculty and collaboration of care with subspecialists, the residents develop skills caring for hospitalized patients including admissions, daily rounds and discharge process. The inpatient service helps the residents distinguish a patient’s severity of illness and levels of care needed. With inpatient training, our graduates expand their career opportunities to include hospitalist, traditional practice or ambulatory practice only.

IPS

Inpatient Service

At the time of graduation, residents report:

“IPS prepares us for future practice. The diverse patient panel on the inpatient service, allows us to gain the knowledge and skill set to work in a variety of settings, treat complex comorbidities and manage patient care across the spectrum of needs we see in primary care.”
