Advisor Program

Mentoring

St. Ann’s Family Medicine has a tradition of mentorship with of a strong longitudinal advisor program throughout the 3 years of residency

Resident advisees meet monthly with their faculty advisors. These meetings allow for dedicated time for residents to plan their individualized learning goals, review feedback, design elective opportunities, and discuss personal wellness.

Advisor’s and Advisees are matched intentionally following our immersion block, with interests, passions and learning goals in mind, building lifelong mentorship relationships.

Specific to SAFM…

Advisors support residents with curriculum creation. Our recent addition of the street medicine track came from the passions of Dr. Matzke, guiding him towards a career as the Medical Director for a street medicine program post residency.

Alongside his advisor, Dr. Belegundu, this robust and dynamic longitudinal track has become an essential learning opportunity and is the foundation for educating Family Physicians in community-based care. Opening the doors for new elective opportunities, including addiction medicine, wound care, and primary care infectious disease.
